My Photography and Videography Gear: Tools That Shape My Creative Journey
GEAR
Since I picked up my first camera in 2021, I've been on an incredible journey exploring the art of photography and videography. Here, I want to share the gear that’s been instrumental in shaping my creative journey. Each piece of equipment has a unique role in helping me capture the world in my own way. Let's dive into the gear that helps me bring my vision to life.
Canon R6 Mark II (A-Cam)
I got my Canon R6 Mark II back in March 2023, and I have no regrets. This camera has been a game-changer for me. Upgrading to the RF mirrorless system has significantly improved the quality of my work. The R6ii is an excellent hybrid camera, excelling in both photography and videography. It’s incredibly versatile and handles low light situations pretty good.
Canon 80D (B-Cam)
Before the R6ii, my Canon 80D was my go-to camera. Paired with a Canon Rebel T6, it served me well as my primary setup. The 80D is still in my bag and works as a solid B-cam. It’s reliable for both photo and video work, and I often pair it with my ultra-wide lenses for specific shots.
Sigma 18-35mm f/1.8
The Sigma 18-35mm was the first lens I ever bought, and I still use it today. Known for its incredible sharpness and fast aperture, this lens is a staple in my kit. It’s perfect for a variety of situations, from portraits to landscape shots, and it pairs beautifully with both my Canon 80D and R6ii.
Canon RF 24-70mm f/2.8
If you’re familiar with camera lenses, you’ve probably heard about the Canon RF 24-70mm f/2.8. This lens is a must-have for any serious photographer or videographer. Its versatility and exceptional image quality make it a frequent choice for my shoots. Whether I’m doing event photography or creating video content, this lens never disappoints.
Tokina 11-16mm f/2.8
The Tokina 11-16mm is my current ultra-wide lens, and I use it mostly with my Canon 80D. It’s perfect for capturing expansive landscapes, architecture, or any scene where you want that dramatic wide-angle look. About 90% of the time, this lens is mounted on my 80D, and it’s never let me down.
DJI Mini 4 Pro
Investing in the DJI Mini 4 Pro was one of the best decisions I’ve made. Although it was a bit pricey, it’s been totally worth it. This drone has allowed me to add stunning aerial shots to my videos, helping my content stand out. The Mini 4 Pro is compact, easy to fly, and the footage it captures is simply breathtaking.
RS3 Gimbal
The RS3 Gimbal is a piece of gear that instantly elevates the professionalism of my work. It’s not just about looking the part; the RS3 provides incredibly smooth and stable shots, which are crucial for high-quality video production. It’s a fantastic tool to have, especially for those dynamic moving shots.
SmallRig AP-20 Carbon Fiber Tripod
Lastly, I want to mention my SmallRig AP-20 Carbon Fiber Tripod. This lightweight and sturdy tripod is perfect for travel and run-and-gun situations. Its build quality is excellent, and it’s become an essential part of my gear lineup. Whether I’m shooting in a studio or out in the field, this tripod is my trusty companion.
